Bradley’s, Middleton Street

The existing building was built in 1903 by architect R. Wellings Thomas. Originally a three-storey townhouse but rebuilt with a high structure with large areas of glazing and an attractive street canopy. A key building on Middleton Street, the town’s retailing core area, that was in poor structural condition and in need of urgent repair. The building had also lost a lot of its stone detailing to the front elevation.

Works have included structural consolidation of the building, re-roofing, rebuilding of rear gable, re-instatement of two large arched windows to front elevation and the rebuilding of the front upper gable and the re-statement of its decorative stone detailing.
