Wynsford House, Middleton Street

Wynsford House before and after restoration

Located on the main shopping street (Middleton St) this property had over the years witnessed the replacement of the original shop fronts with more modern ones which were not in keeping with the character of the property. The THI provided the opportunity to re-instate a more traditional shop front.  As works commenced to the shop front, sections of the original shop front facia and canopy were uncovered providing the evidence of how the shop front would have looked originally, using the evidence found and limited old photographs a more accurate re-instatement has been achieved.  Other works to the property included the repair of all windows and doors to the front and side elevation, repair of the ornate parapet walls, repairs to the chimneys and roof and the re-decoration.
